Background
Since 2007, our ethos has always been indoor, outdoor living and helping our customers to blur the boundaries between the two, and this project in North Yorkshire is the very definition of luxury and bespoke outdoor living.
We initially replaced all the windows and doors within the house including a new front door, French doors and windows but a significant second phase of the project included bi-folding doors for a gym that had been converted from a garage. The most unique aspect of the project was two large shipping containers that had been converted into a sauna and living area complete with bi-folding doors, and two huge pergolas to add weather protection and flexibility to the outdoor area and swim spa.
What we delivered
Our products have been installed into the newly created outdoor setting, which is a completely unique space while the traditional stone built home has also benefitted from our aluminium doors and windows.
Aluminium doors and windows throughout
The products include a glass back door with feature steel bar handle and arched pressing at the head to create a contemporary standout feature on the rear elevation. Plus our casement windows have been installed throughout the property.
The slender outer frame and sightlines of our casement windows are perfectly suited for the properties stone cills and lintels, heritage style windows but in a light grey RAL colour, with a traditional French door creating the access point between the home and opulent outdoor area.
Bi-folding doors and solar powered blinds
The home gym continues the theme of indoor, outdoor living with a five panel XP10 bi-folding door across the front of the newly converted garage. The odd numbered bifold includes an everyday traffic door for easy in and out access, but with the flexibility to completely open the five-metre space to instantly turn an indoor workout into an outdoor one.
The bi-fold doors are complete with solar powered and remote-controlled integral blinds, perfect for privacy and controlling the sunlight, and because the blinds are sealed within the glass they’re protected, never need cleaning and literally just fold away with the doors, the perfect solution for any home gym and the perfect complement to our bi-folding doors.
Bi-fold doors in-between the pergola & garden room
Bi-folding doors can be tailored to suit and enhance any space and this project is the perfect example of that. Two shipping containers have been converted into an L shaped open plan room and we have installed two sets of bi-folding doors into each elevation to allow the homeowners to fully open the space. A five-panel bi-fold door sits across the main elevation and a smaller two panel bi-fold on the return, all laid out on the same cill to form an impressive outdoor garden room.
The beauty of the bi-fold doors is that when they’re open the area doubles in size with no boundary between the indoor and outdoor space and thanks to the bioclimatic pergola the doors can remain open even in unpredictable weather.

High technology outdoor solutions
Two huge bioclimatic pergolas are key to this outdoor space, each span more than six metres and stand at 2700mm tall and they have been expertly installed into the L shaped space to complete the flexible outdoor area.

An Express space from the inside and out
This project is a great example of how we can partner with you and enhance your home for many years to come. As we all live and enjoy our homes we sometimes change how we want to use it and of course modify areas of the home and garden as the years go on, and when these homeowners decided that they wanted to add some external usable space, they were delighted to see that we could provide the solutions for their outdoor space also.

Bespoke solutions for any space
This project is also a great example of the flexibility of our bespoke products, the doors and windows look fantastic within the traditional home, while the bi-fold doors work superbly in the gym and are also a key ingredient within the outdoor space.
The design principles that make bi-folding doors the perfect bridge between the garden room and the pergola, are the same principles that work within any space.
