The owners of this luxury property in Cobham, Surrey made a visit to our Redhill showroom on the southern outskirts of London to outline their requirements. They wanted to add a modern element to their newly-built dayroom & following the same theme they also wanted to incorporate a large run of bi-folding doors within the brick-built leisure room, whilst keeping a similar aesthetic to the rest of the house.
We matched the RAL colour of the homes existing doors and windows and supplied our products in RAL 7030 stone grey to create a cohesive look throughout. The day room benefits from two large sets of our XP View bi-folding doors. Standing more than 2400mm tall, the high doors ensure the frames look slender & both light in and views out are maximised to the full. Directly above the bifold doors are two very different frames. The four panel bifold sits beneath a huge gable frame, a distinctive feature taking full advantage of the room’s vaulted ceiling. The shaped frame effectively creates four shaped windows, lining through with the doors below & creating framed, picture windows looking up to tree leafed sky.
The five-section folding door boasts an everyday access door that can be used like a normal back door leading out into the garden. The master door can then be secured back against the remaining four panels and then folded back to open the entire five metre space. Above this large span door is another shaped window but this time with a slight curve. The curved frame was not manufactured by Express, but we measured & specified it, and installed it to our high standards.
Across the other side of the house a six-section bi-folding door has been used to create a flexible space within the large leisure room. Six panel folding doors includes two middle panels that can effectively be used as traditional French doors but with the added functionality of being able to fold and open three, four and all six folding door panels. A dominant feature within the room our bespoke folding doors will allow the homeowners to open the full elevation meaning social gatherings can spill out into the garden when the weather allows. Again, above the bifold door is a curved frame that we measured, sourced and installed to create a consistent look with the rest of the room and the house.
The steel’s separating the doors and windows haven expertly cloaked internally and externally with insulated pressings to create the appearance of one large floor to ceiling door and window. Externally the two frames are tied in together, whilst internally the structural supports have been made into a feature, jutting back into the property adding a really distinctive, modern element to this classic property.
The dayroom is perfect for evenings also thanks to the integral Uniblinds that sit within the glazing itself. This type of space is perfect for integral blinds as there is no need for a rail above the shaped windows or a fixing into the aluminium pressings as the blinds are completely encased within the glazing, they never need cleaning and fold away with the doors when they are opened. The blinds in this project are electronically controlled meaning one touch of the remote and the room can be closed off from external view. Our integral blinds are also available with an equally impressive solar powered operation & a more cost effective manual operation.
