Background

Like many of our customers these homeowners wanted to extend their home to create some additional space and to make it open plan to enjoy time with the family & entertaining guests. Their vision was to do away with small windows and try to incorporate as much as glass as possible within the new extension to ensure they could create a bright & open kitchen & living space to be enjoyed by the whole family.

What we delivered

Following discussions in our Leeds showroom the homeowners decided to extend their home with a flat roof & a roof lantern rather than opting for a pitched tiled roof with rooflights, believing it to be a more modern option & less work for their builder to carry out.

Our EOS roof lantern was perfect for their requirements as the strength of the system allowed us to manufacture and install the roof with only four pieces of glass. The roof lantern dominates the new flat roof, and the sleek design ensures that light pours in regardless of the suns position throughout the day. The brief of more glass & less frame is why our slimmest sliding door the XP Slide Panoramic + was chosen to screen off the extension. An impressive glass wall with only 25mm sightlines, which perfectly frames the views out to the garden. Externally the outer frame is visible in the brick to brick opening but internally the frame is concealed by plasterboard walls, which create a clean & modern appearance. The floor level is completely flush from inside to out thanks to the external patio, which then steps down into the garden.
