Bi-Folding Doors
Extensions & Renovations

Interior designer & TV presenter John Amabile has grown to become a friend of Express. We first crossed paths at the Ideal Home Show Scotland where John visited our stand to have a look at our products and to discuss the plans for his own home. Since meeting several years ago, we have worked with Jon on numerous projects including three separate orders as he has renovated and improved his own home.

What we delivered

Back in 2015 we manufactured and installed two sets of XP View bi-folding doors. The three-panel bifold set replaced and existing sliding door offering slimmer frames, more light into the room, use as an everyday access door and of course the ability to completely open the room to lead out to the raised external patio area. The second set was installed into a brand-new opening on the first floor that leads out onto a balcony area. An idyllic space to enjoy a coffee in the morning or a relaxed drink on a summer evening.

Three years later John wanted to enhance his home further, so impressed with the aesthetic and lifestyle benefits gained from his bi-folding door he decided to remove a section of the house roof & insert a steel RSJ to house an additional three panel bi-folding door. The living area again benefited from more light and the ability to transform the interior & exterior space into an open-plan sociable setting. After visiting our showroom in Glasgow John also wanted to replace his existing front door with a modern & stylish product. Choosing the Caverro design from our Premium range of entrance doors the inside & outside of the house was instantly modernised with the secure front door complete with glass inserts & steel feature inlays.

Finally in 2019 we replaced the existing PVC doors with a large XP Glide sliding door to complete the renovation works within the property. The side wall next to the bar area is now dominated by two large panes of glass separated only by a slender 35mm sightline. The sliding door acts as a huge picture window ensuring yet another elevation within the home is bathed in natural light. The whole interior space now feels larger and following the living room theme the space flows freely to the bar area that can now also be opened to create an al fresco setting allowing for drinks and gathering to spill out onto the patio area.

A picture perfect home renovation

This project is a great example of the long-lasting relationships we can form with our clients. Often one small project leads to another as we work together to create the perfect forever home. A simple bi-folding door installation bought so many benefits that it directly led to enhancements in other parts of the house. The result is a stylish and sociable home that can be adapted throughout the year to suit the seasons, whether it be snug and cosy during the long nights or bright, vibrant, and airy throughout the long Spring & Summer days.
