Fixed Up 60’s Bungalow

Sliding Doors
Windows & Roofs

Background

The owners of this property set out to fulfil a lifetime ambition of purchasing an old property and carrying out a full, front to back renovation. Prior to the works stood a 1960’s bungalow that now, following a two-year renovation has been completely transformed into a modern, light filled home.

What we delivered

Modern materials and trends have been used both internally and externally to ensure the property has been bought right up to date. These modern materials are fused with homely styling and accessories galore, all combining to create a contemporary, yet cosy, modern home.

We manufactured and installed the very modern aluminium rooflight and sliding doors, but it is the shaped windows and decorative transoms within the windows that are a great example of some of the individual features that the homeowners have used to contribute to creating this unique, and distinctive home.

The full rear elevation is screened by a huge XP Glide sliding door spanning 7.5metres with the three huge panes of glass allowing the homeowners to admire their lush, landscaped garden.

The full rear elevation of this home is now a panoramic wall of glass. The large sliding, patio door is the dominant feature and this project is a great example of why sliding glass doors are increasing in popularity around the whole of the UK. This large run of doors is only broken up by two slim-line transoms, which are just 35mm wide. We offer even more slender patio doors, with our structurally bonded patio door the XP Slide Panoramic, even slimmer than the XP Glide door used on this project. Our lift & slide patio doors are another impressive and popular sliding door option within our range of patio products.

An EOS roof lantern sits centrally lighting up the kitchen and dining area, and the seating area adjacent to main living room. The triple track XP Glide sliding doors allows for a five-metre clear opening, which effectively allows the rear of the house to be opened, creating a seamless, al fresco setting.

The modern windows are distinctive by design, with the master bedroom benefiting from four shaped windows expertly measured to suit the pitch of the roof, flooding the space with natural light. The casement windows in the rest of the house all contain dummy sashes and a decorative fixed transform creating matching sightlines throughout. This feature is most prevalent when looking at the front elevation of the house with the three windows all running in line with one another and looking both distinctive and stunning, a very deliberate modern stamp on what is now a very characteristic bungalow property.

The result of this two-year renovation is beautiful home which perfectly reflects the homeowner’s personality and can be enjoyed throughout all seasons for many years to come.
