Background

This new build home in Lancashire received full planning permission in 2019 and upon appointing the building contractor the homeowners received a strong endorsement to use Express. The homeowners still did their own due diligence and visited our exhibition stand at the Homebuilding & Renovating Show in Harrogate and then followed that up with a visit to our Flagship Leeds showroom to view our products inside our display homes and to also tour our manufacturing facility to see where all our bespoke products are expertly manufactured. Knowing that their housebuilder was a previous customer of Express and having been extremely impressed with both our products and manufacturing operation they appointed Express to provide all the bespoke glazing for their luxury new home.

What we delivered

We worked with the homeowners as the plans revised several times. We discussed product and colour options and provided honest advice throughout each stage to ensure that the finished results matched the vision set out in the architects plans & of course the homeowners’ aspirations. The main house is flanked by two gable extensions so in a unique twist we supplied all of the glazing in the vaulted rooms in our jet-black finish and all the doors and windows in the main in our softer Pebble Grey RAL colour. We surveyed, manufactured, and installed the front door, atrium window, casement, and shaped windows throughout, along with several lift and slide doors to help create this stunning new home.

A beautiful entrance

The front of this property uses a striking combination of materials to create a contemporary looking property. The strong and industrial looking gable areas sit alongside the central house, which looks modern and inviting. Our Linora entrance door sits centrally within the front elevation, the perfect product for a property sat somewhere between modern & traditional. Slender aluminium windows light up the rest of the front elevations, with two sidelights leading up to the atrium glazing on the second floor, another modern feature that sits wonderfully underneath the more traditional tiled roof.

Stunning side rooms

Boasting vaulted ceilings and industrial looking zinc roofs the two gable wings to this property prove to be an excellent architectural feature. Finished with strong black cladding a combination of French doors, picture & shaped windows have been installed to compliment the strong metal appearance. The thin frames used in our door and window profiles ensure that internally the space is light, bright & airy. Two incredibly special spaces that connect wonderfully with the outside space.

Feature lift and slide doors

The rear elevation of the main house is dominated by three sets of our XP Infinite lift & slide doors. The homeowners wanted large format and full height glazing within the bedrooms to make the most of the private and beautiful countryside views. The full height glass doors act as large picture windows, perfectly framing the exterior views but with the ability to completely open half of the space. The lift and slide mechanism allows the doors to be locked in any open position, which is perfect for bedrooms as it allows air flow in and out of the room without compromising security.

Eleven-metre-wide sliding doors

The home benefits from a stunning shaker kitchen, which forms an integral part of a huge open plan dining and living area, which is screened off by a huge lift and slide door. The width of the opening is such that two circular structural columns were required as part of the house structure so we advised where they should be placed to line up perfectly with the slim 47mm interlock used with our XP Infinite doors.

Lift and slide doors were chosen for two reasons, one because their superb weather ratings are ideal for an exposed location such as this. The second is again because of ventilation as the doors can be slid slightly open and then locked into position to allow natural airflow into the property without the worry of doors moving in the wind, children playing around them or an intruder coming in through an ajar door. Lift and slide doors are perfect for huge openings such as this, a turn of the handle raised the glass slightly making it extremely easy to slide despite the huge size of the glazed panel. The door creates a huge glass wall, which makes the open-plan kitchen feel even bigger, all the while flooding the space with natural light & allowing the Lancashire countryside to provide the picturesque backdrop to the quality family time that will be enjoyed inside.

A striking new home

This new build home looks stunning front to back. Internally it has been finished to the highest standard with a meticulous attention to detail. Externally the mix of materials have created a wonderful mixed aesthetic, modern mixed with traditional with our bespoke products a feature throughout. Internally our products will keep the home both warm and secure, whilst they also draw the beautiful views into the home, maximise the light and allow the functionality to connect with the outside during the warmer months. A job well done all around and a stunning new home to be enjoyed for many years to come.
