We had a very busy start to the month! The Prime Minister and her team paid us a visit on Tuesday 9th May, holding a live Q&A with our Leeds-based staff.
A month ahead of the general election, Theresa May had a tour of our flagship showroom, The Home Space, before heading onto our factory floor for the Q&A. Our staff were given a rare opportunity to present their questions face to face with the Prime Minister as part of her campaign trail that has seen her travel up and down the country. Andrea Jenkyns, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Morley and Outwood, also popped in to support the Prime Minister during her visit, which was broadcast nationally.
During the Q&A, staff mainly expressed concern about NHS funding, childcare costs and how Brexit might impact the business, however Mrs May ensured any concerns aired were addressed appropriately.
A first for the company, it was encouraging that Theresa May chose to visit us here in Yorkshire, not only because of our family core but because we’re a prime example of British manufacturing that continues to flourish since the UK’s decision to leave the EU and will continue to do so post-Brexit.
