Up-and-coming artists across our home county have the unique opportunity to showcase their skill on a national scale and be crowned the best in Yorkshire, as our campaign launches today to discover the region’s hidden talent.
We’re inviting Yorkshire artists aged 16 and over to submit their favourite creation to be in with the chance of winning the top prize and the exclusive opportunity to house and auction their collection at our national flagship showroom in Leeds.
In addition to being crowned Yorkshire’s Artist of the Year, the winner will receive £400 worth of art supply vouchers and have one of their pieces auctioned for charity to raise money for St Gemma’s Hospice, who we’ve been supporting now for many years.
The awards are open to artists of all levels, including professionals, students studying locally and those who create art for fun in their spare time. The artwork submitted can be across a range of mediums so is tailor made for those who specialise in traditional paintings, photography, landscape and urban sketches or digital art mastery. The only condition is that the art must be able to be hung on a wall.
Budding artists hoping to be in with a chance of winning, simply need to upload a photograph or digital copy of a piece of art they have personally created and provide a brief summary of the inspiration behind their work.
Steve Bromberg, our managing director, commented: “Given that we have 27,000 square feet of showroom facility and a hotbed of artistic talent across Yorkshire, we felt it was time to create an award which truly showcases the region’s flair and creativity.
“Whether you’re an art student hoping to kick-start your career or someone who loves shooting photography in their spare time, we’d urge artists of all abilities across Yorkshire to enter.”
The closing date for award entries is midday on Friday 12th July, with those shortlisted going to a public vote and judged by an expert panel to determine the winner. The winning artist will receive £400 worth of art supply vouchers, with £75 and £25 in vouchers going to second and third place respectively.
The winner will have their work on display for the next 12 months and potentially auctioned at our flagship showroom in Leeds. The Top 10 finalists will also have their submissions temporarily on display at the showroom – providing a public forum for those wanting to get their art some additional exposure.
