A team of brave daredevils from Express will take on the UK’s highest outdoor man-made climbing wall on September 8 in aid of Macmillan cancer support & the ROKT foundation.
Dubbed ROKTFACE, the highest route is taller than the Tower of London and all routes are well above the Angel of the North.
As a family Company the team at Express are deeply affected when colleagues are going through difficult times.
Mark Harratt has worked at Express since 2008 along with his son Ben & earlier this year Mark was given the heart-breaking news that he is suffering from inoperable terminal cancer. Mark is undergoing pallative chemotherapy and immunotherapy but is staying strong, positive and still making his colleagues laugh on a regular basis.
21,600 metre climb
As show of support to Mark, his family and his chosen charity of Macmillan cancer support, 30 members of the Express team are going push themselves out of their comfort zone by joining forces with charity ROKT Foundation to take on ROKTFACE in Brighouse by attempting to climb a combined 21,600 metres in three hours.
As a thank you to the ROKT foundation, Express have agreed to supply and fit a new bespoke window for the charity in the new sensory room being built at ROKT.
ROKT Foundation is one of the UK’s only climbing-based charities that puts the sport and urban activity at the heart of its game-changing work.
They support service users and other charities and organisations to overcome everything from depression and suicide to mental and physical disabilities by harnessing the power of positive fear. Their slogan of engage, empower, inspire couldn’t be better for them or Mark as the Express team take on this challenge.

Mark chose Macmillan as his chosen charity without hesitation because of the support he has received since his diagnosis. Macmillan do whatever it takes to support people living with cancer so it is a great charity that resonates with any family who has been affected by cancer.
