Northfields – Harrogate

This large new build in North Yorkshire strikes the perfect balance of using both modern and traditional materials to create an impressive family home. The property has been built with traditional Yorkshire stone and coupled with expansive aluminium glazing to create a classic looking house that is flooded with light, open-plan flexible spaces and seamless transitions from inside to out.

Background

When embarking on this large new-build project the homeowners began by looking for suppliers and visited our Leeds showroom back in 2016. Suitably impressed with the products that we had on display and the knowledge of our staff they e-mailed their plans to sales@expressbifolds.co.uk. We quoted the whole job ‘Off-Plan’ and were the ideal company to carry out this project as we were able to manufacture and install every external door and window product required to create this new dream home.

What we delivered

We worked closely with the homeowner’s project management to ensure that our installation tied in with their build schedule. To expedite our manufacturing process, we ordered all the required RAL coloured profile ‘Off-Plan’, so we had the materials ready to manufacture as soon as the site survey was carried out. The survey took place once was outer structure of the house was built and we commenced the bespoke manufacture immediately because we had previously ordered RAL coloured profile. We supplied the aluminium entrance doors, and aluminium windows throughout. The unique design of the house includes three ground level sets of our XP View bi-folding doors, including a set at the front of the property. The house sits within immaculate landscaped gardens and the grand entrance area includes an outdoor seating area so a morning coffee or evening meal can be enjoyed when the sun is rising or setting.

The rear elevation boasts the same benefits, a large rear patio that seamlessly connects the indoor and outdoor space. The benefit to creating these outdoor spaces on both elevations means that regardless of the time of the day, or year, you can enjoy sitting in direct sunlight without losing it to the working week or the shorter days. Full height glazing and opening flexibility is gained upstairs also courtesy of a three-section folding door and a French door utilised in the bedrooms that can be completely opened thanks to the statement galvanised steel balcony’s that ensure no issues with containment.

The most impressive design features are the two mirrored glazed atrium’s. The front of the property is dominated by a large curtain-walling screen, which runs from the ground floor up to the ridge of the roof. The curtain-wall houses an aluminium front entrance door to create an impressive entrance that floods the inside of the home with natural light. The rear elevation mirrors the same glazed feature, a second curtain-wall screen but this time sitting above a bifold door, which allows the ground floor glazing to be completely opened allowing for unobstructed views out to the Harrogate countryside.

Mirroring the two huge glazed screens means on approaching the house you can see right through to the gardens, and internally the home is a light, airy space with the panoramic glazing making the interior space feel even more expansive.

The results are truly stunning, a beautiful new home that proudly sits within an expertly landscaped garden setting. The detailed design of the house and the garden allows them to benefit each other, stunning views and the flexibility to connect the whole space from front to back for 365 days a year.
