Mother’s Day Treats in Yorkshire

Lifestyle

It’s nearing that time of year again where we celebrate the first leading lady in our lives, our dear mother. Whether you’ve not yet thought of what you’re going to get her, or you’re already set, why not spoil yours on Mother’s Day with an additional treat? Take a look at our list below for some inspiration on what fabulous activities you can do with your mum in Yorkshire.

A Relaxing Spa Day in Harrogate

Who doesn’t love a good pamper from time to time? Whether it’s a manicure, facial or a massage, nothing says €˜thanks, mum’ quite like a spa session. For a treat that is truly luxurious, take a trip to Rudding Park Hotel for a spa day. Situated in the south of Harrogate, the hotel & spa offers beautiful scenery and includes a variety of services in celebration of Mother’s Day, including afternoon tea. So, if you fancied a bite to eat after your spa session, you can sip away at a glass of fizz while eating delicious cakes and sweet treats.

Spa treatments at Rudding Park cost from £67, or £34.50 for their Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea Special.

Wine Tasting with Yorkshire Wine School in Harrogate

If your mother considers herself a wine connoisseur, she’ll be made up with a trip to a wine tasting experience at the Yorkshire Wine School. With their France vs New World Saturday Tasting Luncheon being held in Harrogate on the 25th March, you and your mum will learn all there is to know about fine wines from France, Australia, South America and South Africa. As a fun and friendly way to get to know wine a little better, this is a lovely event if you plan to make the motherly festivities a weekend-long celebration.

The event is to be held at the Hotel du Vin, Prospect Place, Harrogate from 11am – 4pm, and costs £79.

Afternoon Tea at Bettys in York

Well-known throughout Yorkshire, Bettys is a definite hotspot for afternoon tea lovers, particularly on Mother’s Day. If your mum has a penchant for beautifully homemade cakes and infusing teas and coffees served in dainty china, then she will fall in love with Bettys afternoon tea offers. Conveniently, if you’re based in Harrogate, Ilkley or Northallerton, you can still enjoy all of Bettys finest delicacies, with additional tea rooms also located in these popular Yorkshire destinations. However, heading to the larger tearooms in York means that you could always enjoy a stroll around the historical walls afterwards.

Reservations-only Lady Betty Afternoon Tea is held on the first floors of The Imperial Room, Bettys in Harrogate and The Belmont Room, Bettys York, Thursdays to Sundays and costs from £32.95 per person.

Flower Arranging Workshop with Valerie of Dore

They also specialise in teaching floristry, and their Flower School runs workshops throughout the year if you fancied taking your mum on an evening of floral creativity!

Valerie of Dore’s next Flower Class is on 16th March between 6-8pm, followed by 10th May at 6-7.30pm.

Explore the Beauty of Hardcastle Crags

Located near Hebden Bridge, Hardcastle Crags is a stunning place for you and your mum to spend time together on Mother’s Day. The wooded valley and stunning waterfalls alone are reason enough to pay a visit, however there are lots of activities to get involved in too, including exploring the 19th-Century Gibson Mill and unearthing beautiful wildlife.

What makes Hardcastle Crags even better? It’s completely free! So, you can enjoy the gorgeous settings without a hefty price tag.

N.B entry to Gibson Mill costs £4 per adult.

Hopefully that’s sparked a bit of inspiration! We’d love to know what you have planned for Mother’s Day, so let us know on Twitter @expressbifolds.
