Express visits BAU 2017 in Munich
In January, we took senior members of our sales, training, manufacturing and installation teams to Munich for our bi-annual trip to BAU, the world's leading trade fair for architecture, materials and systems.
We always look forward to this trip as it's a fantastic opportunity to network with world-leading industry professionals as well as take a look at what new technologies and innovations are coming to market.
We were given a private, exclusive viewing of two brand new products from Italy which weren't on display anywhere else in the exhibition – so we can't say much else about them, unfortunately! But it goes to show how we've built our solid reputation in the European market.
At Express we pride ourselves on being ahead of the curve in terms of machinery and design, so we make sure to take advantage of trips like this one to add value to our portfolio. We explored the machinery and aluminium tools section of the show to look for the latest developments in CNC machinery, as well as companies exhibiting security systems and fittings. We were also on the lookout for one or two pieces of hardware in particular and locking fixtures for one of our sliding door products.
Inevitably we spent most of our time in the doors and windows section of the show, but BAU has extensive exposure for all aspects of the construction industry including building materials, flooring, construction tools as well as forward-thinking technologies like solar and climate systems.
What we especially like about the BAU is the warm welcome we get every time, especially those companies that also have a presence in the UK. We were honoured to have so many companies approach us and praise us for our showrooms and exhibition stands. We also met with a senior engineer from Schueco who showed us various new products they are launching and we discussed some products that might be of interest to us for future joint projects. We always welcome the opportunity to partner with leading innovative companies and had extensive discussions in the Schueco VIP area with their Head of European Sales Thomas Humph and Commercial Manager Steve Nelsen, about our expansion plans for 2017.
It was also nice to hear from a Spanish company whose bi-folding door system we helped design – the feedback they had received since launching the product has been overwhelmingly positive.
With the wealth of knowledge and technological innovation on display at the show, we've already put into planning some modifications and improvements to our Slide Panoramic, and XP Glide S slim-line sliding doors, as well as our XP View bi-folding door.
